Deserves 10 stars! Waiting for you to take hold of it and run. I fell in love with the story, with characters, and the writing style is so beautiful. Every word matters. Unique, Addictive, Romantic, Intense, Captivating, Amazing, Breathtaking, Intoxicating, Astounding, Memorable, Mesmerizing. This is one of my books of the year and it's a story you shouldn't miss. My notes is a "thank you " for this reviewer. I was planning on reading this book but based in her little but helpful info, I won't. I can't write on her review "cause we're not friends. She has a bf? Thanks for the info. And I honestly think this hate" being carried on from childhood to adulthood very immature. But I was planning on reading it. Your info about female mc being immature and a brat was a huge help. Hate those kind of girls who never grow up. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers. Show full review. Well, no she was not necessarily with her boyfriend, but she was kind of stupid.

Essentially Samantha 23 is on a road trip on her way to her best friend's wedding with her best friend's brother - the hero, Tristan Steven, her boyfriend, bailed on her due to work complications, but said he would come directly to the wedding. Circumstances force her to drive with the hero across the course of a week where they begin to reignite old flames. Other than brief texts, voicemails and a single call she isn't with her boyfriend. But the point is only then does she become physically intimate with the hero 24 hours later. It's the thought that counts . So no I wouldn't say there's cheating physically but emotionally the hero is someone she's felt suppressed feelings for, for a long time. They have history from 6 years ago. He was a jock, popular and essentially a known "womaniser" rumours with some basis but not much as a teenager. She hated him until they shared a kiss. I think he liked her for a while, but she was quite anti towards him. Steven the boyfriend kissed Samantha and Tristan saw, but didn't see her push Steven away.

Likewise she doesn't know Tristan saw, and in a jealous retaliation he starts flirting with girls in front of her. They end before they could begin. There's unsettled feelings and business until they see each other again. They both obviously moved on in the separation but held some part of each other for a long time. I would even go so far as to say his feelings for her are far deeper. Misunderstandings meant their timing wasn't right. Despite that there's more push from him than her. The heroine is soooo weird though. She writes letters to her best friend which she doesn't send, but writes out of comfort and seems to seek so much approval from her. Honestly wondered whether she had a thing for her. This book is confusing. So confusing that it contains no story line.

Why samantha hates tristan? Tristan done nothing wrong. He is not mean. For me tristan does not have significant character. What happen between tristan and samantha is misunderstanding. Why samantha wants to keep her relationship with tristan a secret? Why samantha worries so much reene witll hate her? The fact reene is the one who nudge samantha to hook up with tristan. Those questions not answered on the book. But the writing is good. The wording is good. This author have promise but lack of story line. Samantha Larkin. She Samantha stays with a man for 6 years because they were best friends This was read on KU, which was awesome! Happy reading! Love Taylor's books! She has a way of writing characters that are so natural, believable, and uninfuriating!

Let me explain. In a typical book, there's a huge misunderstanding between two characters and pages of angst and drama ensue before someone gets the guts to talk to each other. In Taylor's books, that space is about 5 pages. Because when life is crashing around you, normal people speak up. Great dialog, great story about being true to yourself, and an awesome read. Taylor has done it again! I've read the excerpt or the blurb and I liked it, whereas the cover image wasn't grasping enough for me lol fussy much. Anyways, I opened this book not realising that it's a story about two people that is sweet but so different and connected to each other by family hmm I hope I'm not too confusing lol but Samantha is Renee's best friend and Tristan is the older brother.

A slow, sloth-like blink, as she simultaneously filled her lungs with just enough air to keep her heart from jumping out of her chest. In only two days they were to leave on their trip, a three thousand mile journey across the US. Not a hint of remorse that he was breaking a promise. But they did, she did, and her cheeks heated at the thought of trying to explain his absence. Steven leaned back in his seat, taking the folded-up napkin and tucking it neatly into his lap. She needs you. Slab of concrete? I thought you supported me, too. This is my future. This is for us, baby. For our future. There it was again. The words that sent her heart racing like a stampede of wild cattle.

It was the talk of finality. The end. Because marriage, to Samantha, was what her parents had. The laughing so hard at the kitchen sink you peed a little. About something no one could understand but the two of you. She could see it. He was the perfect catch. The planner, the man who knew every step he would make ten steps before he actually made them. Her friend. I promise. She took a deep breath, hoping the action would cause her heart to slow to a normal speed, then opened the menu. THE REST of the evening went by without any surprises.

And like before, he reminded her of how rare an opportunity his internship truly was. Connor and Associates was the most prestigious Law Firm in Los Angeles, representatives of the rich, the famous, and the top secret. They allowed exactly five openings outside of Ivy League schools per year. This opening would never come again. There was no question about it. The more he spoke, the brighter his eyes became, and Samantha loved it. To watch his face glow. She leaned forward, fetching her bag from the floor of his Prius where the long strap had somehow gotten tangled around her foot.

No, why would I be? Whatever you say, sir! SAMANTHA GRABBED a can of sparkling water out of her fridge and looked around her apartment. It felt… empty. Even though it was smothered in drawings, and cluttered with a mishmash of furniture. She pulled in a breath, downing half the can as she kicked her shoes to the center of the room. Sure, plenty of people had attended, making it appear to be a huge, beautiful success to all who were watching. They were all singing her praises, taking pictures, and telling her how much they admired her creativity. But not a single person had actually wanted to purchase her art.

Sure, there were a couple of offers from passersby—a couple of lowball offers that would barely cover the cost of the materials it took to create them… But each piece took more than a month to complete. She needed more than that. Her worth. Even Steven. The words still pinched at her heart and made her feel ill. Without thinking, she set the half-drunk can on the table and walked down the hall to stand at the door to her studio. She turned the handle, letting the door crack open before giving it a firm shove to swing wide on its hinges. Her eyes landed on the clay-spotted sheet that hung over the sculpture in the center of the room. It began the day her best friend called to say she was getting married. No hello, no greeting of any kind before the words exploded like a bomb through the receiver. That grumpy, raw spot in the middle of her chest that she never wanted to admit existed.

The place where jealousy, hurt, and discomfort twisted in intricate knots. Renee had only moved to New York six months before, and now she was getting married. Which meant that, as Samantha knew all too well, Renee was never coming back to LA. Their friendship would dwindle, the way relationships always did when people moved apart, and Samantha would lose the only friend who ever really understood her. The one person she could be herself with, who knew her battle with a wild heart, and all the things she dreamed of doing. She hung up the phone that day in shock. Almost with grief, as she made it back to her studio.

No, she started something new. The sculpture took on a life of its own. Every day she continued to work. Adding, sculpting, and perfecting it…and working through all the emotions and disappointments that had been churning through her blood for the past year. Slab of concrete.

She kept it around for moments like this. She picked up the menu to cover her face, needing to get away from him in any way she could. He answered in such a nonchalant way that she needed to see him.

Now it was time to drive to New York to be her maid of honor and Steven broke their plans because of a once in a lifetime career opportunity.
